BOTOX

BOTOX® is the only approved treatment to temporarily improve the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet lines in adults.

BOTOX® targets one of the underlying causes of frown lines and crow’s feet—the repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting over the years. Your specialist will inject these muscles with BOTOX® to temporarily reduce muscle activity. You will begin to notice a visible smoothing of your crow’s feet lines and frown lines between your brows.

For the crow’s feet area, your specialist will inject 3 areas of the orbicularis oculi, the muscle that frames the side of the eye. This will be repeated on the orbicularis oculi muscle on the other eye.

For the frown lines area, your specialist will administer 5 injections into muscles in your forehead—1 in the procerus muscle and 4 in the corrugator muscles.

Your specialist may use ice to numb the treatment area. If you are concerned about discomfort, your specialist may apply a topical numbing cream before administering your treatment.

What were common side effects seen in clinical studies?

Three percent of patients experienced eyelid drooping in the frown lines studies and 1% of patients experienced eyelid swelling in the crow’s feet studies. Other possible side effects include: dry mouth; discomfort or pain at the injection site; tiredness; headache; neck pain; eye problems: double vision, blurred vision, decreased eyesight and dry eyes; and allergic reactions. These are not all of the possible serious side effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic.

You should not consider Botox if you:

Have weakened facial muscles

Have allergies to bovine products

Are taking antibiotics or blood thinners

Have wrinkles caused by gravity, skin infection, or sun damage rather than by underlying facial muscles

Are pregnant or breastfeeding

Are living with a neurological disorder

Health Conditions and Concerns That You Must Discuss Before Undergoing Juvederm Treatments

Allergies: You should not receive any type of Juvederm treatments if you have a proven history of allergic reactions to lidocaine or any of the other ingredients used in these products. People with a history of allergies or several allergic reactions (up to and including anaphylaxis) should seek another solution for wrinkles removal in NYC.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Before undergoing any treatments, females must inform the physician and the staff if they are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.

Scarring and Pigmentation Issues: Tell your doctor if you have experiencing severe scarring in the past or have some type of pigmentation disorder.

Additional Treatments: If you are considering treatments that would also affect the skin, discuss them with your doctor. This includes plans for chemical peels or any type of laser treatment. Failing to do so increases your risk of inflammation.

Immune System Issues: Advise your physician of any medications or conditions that minimize the body’s natural immune system function. A compromised immune system places you at an increased risk of infection.

Blood Thinners: If you are taking prescription or over the counter products for blood thinning, discuss them with your doctor in advance. Blood thinners could increase the potential for bleeding or bruising.

Skin Injuries: Injury near the injection site could expose you to a higher risk of side effects.

Taking Care of Yourself After a Treatment

Curtail strenuous exercise for at least a full day after a treatment. Consumption of alcohol and exposure to direct sunlight and excessive heat should also be avoided during that first 24-hour period.

Understanding the Possible Side Effects

Many people experience few if any side effects. There may be some redness or discoloration in the hours after the treatment. You may find the area itches for a short time. Tenderness is not unusual and there may be slight swelling or a sense of firmness around the point of entry. Lumps or bumps may appear and begin to subside in the days after the treatment.

As with any type of injection, there is a slight risk of infection.

The side effects associated with JUVÉDERM® XC and JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC injectable gels, are mild to moderate. They can last for up to 14 days after the treatment. Similar side effects may appear after the use of JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC and last for up to 2-4 weeks.

The decision to undergo Juvederm treatments does mean experiencing a possible injection directly into a blood vessel. The complications can be severe and possibly permanent. Scarring, temporary scabs around the point of entry, and increased risk of stroke are possibilities. You may also experience a decrease in visual acuity up to and including blindness.

BOTOX

If you are an adult seeking to minimize moderate to severe frown lines on the forehead or between the brows, BOTOX® is the only approved treatment on the market. The product is also used to decrease the appearance of crow’s feet around the eyes.

The product works by reducing the muscle activity that leads to those lines and crow’s feet. Injected directly into the muscles, you will notice that the lines begin to smooth quickly. The effect can reverse years of wrinkling due to squinting and frowning in times past.

Where are the Injections Administered?

The injection sites vary based on the the type of issue you wish to correct:

If the plan is to smooth out crow’s feet around the eyes, the expert will administer three injections directly into the orbicularis oculi. This is the muscle found along the side of each eye. The expert will complete the injections on one side and then move on to the other eye.

When you are seeking to smooth out frown lines, the specialist will administer five injections into two different forehead muscles. The placement of the injections calls for one directly into the procerus muscle and the remaining four in the corrugator muscles.

Before the injections occur, the expert may apply ice as a way to numb the injection sites. There is also the option of applying a topical cream designed to numb those areas.

Have Any Clinical Studies Identified Side Effects Related to BOTOX® Use?

Clinical studies do indicate the potential for some side effects. Many patients will experience few if any of these effects. Some studies indicate as many as 3% of patients experienced eyelid drooping. Around 1% experienced some swelling of the eyelids.

The decision to undergo BOTOX® treatments could lead to the following side effects:

  • Dry Mouth
  • Pain at the injection site
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Pain in the Neck
  • Eye issues including dry eyes, double vision, blurred vision, and a decrease in visual acuity
  • Allergic reactions

Other side effects are possible based on the current state of your health. Discuss all health conditions with your specialist before undergoing treatments.

Who Should Not Consider BOTOX® Treatments?

If you have any of the following conditions, talk with your specialist about alternative treatments:

  • Weakened facial muscles
  • Known allergies to products used in bovine treatments
  • Currently taking blood thinning medications or antibiotics
  • Have wrinkles due to sun damage, infections, or gravity (other than facial muscles)
  • Pregnant or currently breastfeeding
  • Living with any type of neurological disorder

  • Enhance the apperance of your lips to create a full look (Restylane® Silk)

This solution allows you to enjoy results without the need for anything other than a minimally invasive procedure. The results are natural looking and can be tailored to bring out the best of your features.

Possible Side Effects

Most side effects are minor and will pass in seven days or less. The more common examples include an itching sensation and some tenderness at the injection site. You may also have some bruising and redness near the site. Swelling is also possible along with some minor pain.

Keep in mind treatments involving the lips could produce mild side effects that last for up to two weeks.

While rare, severe side effects can develop. Infections may appear in the days and weeks after the treatment. Superficial necrosis at the injection site is also a possibility. Patients who are taking any type of blood thinner or platelet inhibitors are at an increased risk for bleeding and bruising. If you have herpes simplex, the treatment may increase the risk of an eruption.

BELLAFILL

When your main concern is smile lines and wrinkles between the nose and the mouth. Bellafill® is worth considering. As one of the fillers approved by Health Canada, this option has a solid track record for safety and longevity. Exhaustive studies reveal that this solution is safe for up to five years.

What’s the Treatment Process?

Treatments using Bellafill® are much like those used with any other kind of facial filler. The area around the injection site is numbed using ice or some type of topical cream. An expert takes care to not inject the filler directly into a blood vessel. The recovery time is short and you can get back to your normal activities in a short time.

One of the things that sets Bellafill® apart is how it helps to encourage the body to produce higher levels of collagen. Since collagen production decreases as people age, this reversal goes a long way toward keeping your facial skin strong and supple.

What Kind of Testing is Required?

Before you undergo treatments with Bellafill®, there is an optional skin test the doctor will recommend. The test reveals if you have any type of allergic reaction to lidocaine or bovine collagen.

How About the Benefits?

With Bellafill®, you experience a quick change in your appearance. Smile lines and wrinkles are corrected without any delay. The replacement of lost collagen improves the skin texture and you do not have to be concerned about downtime. Many of your day to day activities can be resumed within an hour or two of having a treatment.

To aid in avoiding discomfort at the injection site, 0.3% of lidocaine is administered.

What’s the Satisfaction Rate

A consumer survey among patients who have received Bellafill® indicate that 91% would recommend this filler to their friends. A separate study focused on reactions five years after receiving the treatment indicate that 83% of patients were satisfied to very satisfied with the results of their nasolabila fold corrections at the end of the five-year period.
